The Admiral Nimitz State Historical Park, with its extensive World War II collection and the History Walk of the Pacific War. Also centrally located is the Pioneer Museum Complex. Fort Martin Scott, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, LBJ State and National Historical Parks are all within short driving distances. When planning your visit remember most attractions are open during the week, so there is no need to wait for the weekend. Fredericksburg's recreational facilities include Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course--a new 18 hole championship golf course. The golf course is open seven days a week from 7:00 am 'til dark. Wildseed Farms, Ltd.: Hwy. 290 East, 7 miles East of Fredericksburg 830/ 990-1393 Visit one of the nation's largest working wildflower farms. Open daily. Self guided tours of the flowers available. Color from Spring through first frost.

Historic District: Heart of Fredericksburg: Over 80 points of historic interest and significance in the district. A free self-guided walking map of the district is available at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, located at 302 East Austin Street, and guided walking tours are available through K&K Historic Tours for a fee.

National Museum of the Pacific War: 340 E. Main Street 830/ 997-4379
Dedicated to everyone who served in the Pacific War. The Admiral Nimitz Museum, the George Bush Gallery, the Plaza of the Presidents, the Japanese Peace Garden, the Memorial Wall and the Pacific Combat Zone are all part of the park. Fee.

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area: RR 965 N. (18 miles) (915) 247-3903 This 1,643-acre park is home to the second largest granite outcrop in the US, and provides opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, rappelling, camping, and picnicking. Fee

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park: Texas Hwy. 16 South, 3 miles 830/ 997-4202 This 340 acre park features picnic areas, pavilions, RV spaces, camp sites, a golf course, playgrounds, tennis courts, a swimming pool, fishing and the Live Oak Wilderness Trail.

LBJ State and National Historical Parks: Hwy. 290 East, 16 miles The LBJ park complex encompasses 700 acres and has a visitor center, historic areas, tours, exhibits, and hiking trails. Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm: LBJ State Park 830/ 644-2455 Visit a living history farmstead of the pioneers. See how the farm families of a century ago lived. Learn about seasonal activities such as sausage making, sheep shearing, canning, etc.

Vereins Kirche Museum: Center of Marktplatz, Main Street This unique building is a well-known landmark of the city of Fredericksburg in the heart of town. Learn about the original "Society's Church" and its interesting history. Free

Luckenbach, Texas: RR 1376, 8 miles Southeast of Fredericksburg 830/ 997-3224 Established as a trading post in 1849, Luckenbach consists of a dancehall, general store, and bar. This settlement has enjoyed continued notoriety for its free spirit.

Old Tunnel Wildlife Management Area (Bat Tunnel) Old San Antonio Hwy. 12 miles Open nightly June through October. View a colony of Mexican free-tail bats as they fly out for their nightly hunt.
